Our one-day training seminar prepares substitute teachers for the classroom or provides a refresher to substitute teachers currently employed by local school districts. Students must have 60 college credits in order to apply to become substitute teachers. The program covers professionalism in and out of the classroom. The Central Service Technician course will provide students with 160 hours of instruction and 400 hours of a clinical externship. Students will learn the principles of cleaning and processing equipment, methods of sterilization and disinfection, packaging and storage, maintenance of equipment, inventory control, basic surgical instrument identification and more. Week 1 - explore color theory and mixing by completing a color wheel Week 2 - plan a composition and make a chalk pastel study of a still life set up by the instructor. Week 3 - 5 - paint a still life composition including underpainting. Elements of painting such as value, contrast and color will be discussed by the instructor and used by students to complete a finished painting. Some materials included. Students must bring materials listed below: 16 x 12 canvas board for color wheel, 1 chalk pastel set with at least 12 colors, one 16 x 20 stretched canvas, and paper towels. Acrylic paints as follows: titanium white, alizarin crimson, cadmium red medium, burnt umber, cadmium yellow medium, ultramarine and cerulean blue.
