A CNA provides physical and emotional support for patients in nursing homes, hospitals, and other various settings. A CNA must be able to provide personal assistance to individuals who are unable to care for themselves and help them regain and maintain daily functions. Classroom learning is taught in a simulated long-term care classroom setting and clinical is instructed at a locally designated long-term care facility outside of the school. This course gives students the full academic hands-on skills required to pass the state licensing exams. More

This 90 hour lecture course provides the first step to preparing students for a career as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. The program begins with the healthcare delivery system, collection of materials and equipment, venipuncture and capillary techniques, and medical, legal and ethical implications of blood collection. Students will complete 30 venipuncture and 10 capillary sticks before the completion of the course to be eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam given by NHA. Upon successful completion of the Phlebotomy I course, students will be eligible to enroll in Phlebotomy II and complete a hands-on clinical externship at a local healthcare facility. More

This comprehensive 80 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, the "top 200 drugs," I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
